The gap between inventory and margin
Most sellers can tell you what their inventory is worth. Very few can tell you how much money they've made. The gap between “my inventory is worth $50,000” and “I have $8,000 in unrealized profit after fees” is the gap between a stockpile and a portfolio. We built PokeInvesting to close that gap.
Why data matters
A card market without fresh prices is a guessing game. Stale data pushes you to hold too long or sell too early. Our prices refresh daily from TCGPlayer completed sales, eBay sold listings, and verified market transactions. PSA graded prices come straight from certified sale records — no estimates, no averages smoothed over months, no “trust us”.
How we calculate P&L
Portfolio valuations use FIFO (First-In, First-Out) cost basis — the same method stock brokerages use. When you sell a card, the system matches it against your oldest purchase lot first and books your realized gain or loss. Net values factor in estimated eBay fees (13.25%), payment processing, and shipping so the number you see is as close to money-in-your-pocket as we can get it.
